snaps: father’s day

day 22 of the 30 day blog challenge

it’s just amazing that hubby spares his time to attend events such as these. and this means a lot to our kids, which he knows of course. he makes sure that in every special occasion, he’ll be there no matter what.

although late, happy father’s day!

hubby and his mini-me ❤

a little pause

day 21 of the 30 day blog challenge

so i skipped sunday and monday posts for my 30 day blog challenge. i apologize. things got a bit hectic at home.

1. k2 gave us the dengue scare when he got home after spending a weekend with the in laws. so that monday was spent in having him checked. thank goodness things turned out negative.

2. the whole sunday was a blur, i can’t remember anything significant at all. maybe i was asleep/busy the whole day.

but i’ll be back this week to complete my 30 day blog challenge.

snaps: my funny little boys

day 20 of the 30 day blog challenge

my boys are seriously funny. let the photos tell their stories:

K1:
we watched toy story 3, ordered chips, popcorn and some potato wedges. he burned his tongue, as he was eager to eat. hence the face:

hot food!

k2:
i prepared spaghetti for the three for lunch. this little genius, didn’t like getting his shirt messy, so what he did:

his bib

not the usual bib. he even added clothespins!

k3:
his own version of planking, in reverse. and this is his usual hangout spot 🙂

reverse planking 🙂

day 19 of the 30 day blog challenge

it was a pleasant surprise seeing this in K1’s bag while checking his assignments and worksheets:

his first borrowed book

i found the first library book he borrowed. and he was so proud to tell me about it. after this book, he can’t wait for the next book 🙂

i feel so proud seeing my firstborn build an interest in books. and i can’t wait to see the next book 🙂

growing old with you

day 18 of the 30 day blog challenge

this is how i imagined how we’ll be when we’re old and grey. we may be old, but we still have the passion of 20 something couples in love.

just like carl & ellie. minus the dying, sad part.

growing old with you ❤

recipes: comfort food chicken sopas

day 17 of the 30 day blog challenge

comfort in a warm bowl 🙂

photo source: click the photo to visit the site, Kusina ni Manang 🙂

one of the best comfort food i have ever known would be chicken sopas, some may call it chicken soup; but the effects after scooping in a hearty spoonful into your mouth feels like the most comforting hug your mom ever gave you.

and since sharing is caring, i’ll share my own recipe for chicken sopas. 🙂

what you need: (note: i don’t do exact measurements and i cook based on my taste)

chicken breasts or thighs around 2-3 pcs
carrots
potatoes
celery
salt and pepper
1 pack of 1kg macaroni noodles or depending on how many you want to prepare
1 can evaporated milk
1 tetra pack of cream
garlic & onion

what you do:

boil the chicken for 30 mins or more until you get that perfect chicken stock
don’t throw away the boiled stock, this will be your soup base
flake the chicken to your desired size (strips, chunks etc)

saute garlic and onion
add the chicken
add a dash of patis/fish sauce
season with salt & pepper

what i learned from my mom so that the noodles won’t get too soggy and big after cooking them is to add the raw noodles while sauteeing the chicken, garlic and onions.

transfer everything into the stock. bring to a simmer
add the carrots, potatoes, celery or other veggies you like
add the evaporated milk and cream (this is where you can gauge how much milk you want. my kids & myself love it really creamy and milky)
simmer (again) until the veggies are soft
season with salt & pepper

and serve with love and a smile 🙂

looking for the perfect blazer

day 16 of the 30 day blog challenge

if you know me by now (ok that sounded like a song..) you would know that i adore men’s fashion on women or those androgynous fashion. and one of the things i adore are blazers! i’m currently on the lookout for the perfect tailored blazer that can go from formal to relaxed.
